Council recognises excelling employees

Former council secretary for Gantsi District Council, Mr Kruger Balosang, has commended efforts by Jwaneng Town Council (JTC) to appreciate employees’ hard work.
Giving a keynote address at the town council’s annual excellence awards recently, Mr Balosang said employees put in a lot of effort to provide quality service to the community, a positive principle that he said built a high performance and result oriented culture.
He said it was only proper therefore to timely recognise and appreciate such individuals’ contribution to both the organisational and national issues.
“Excellence is not standard practice but reflects a higher level of focus, commitment and a desire to be better than the next individual, than the next organization or the next team. Achieving excellence should therefore motivate each of us,” he said.
Mr Balosang therefore urged both the recipients and non-recipients to introspect and reflect on their attitude to build a positive spirit for excellence and use the awards ceremony as a living testimony of quality service delivery.
“Quality service means that we need to treat each and every customer as special and consider elements of swiftness, good listening skills, customer feedback and reliability among others. Today we are celebrating enthusiasm, commitment and sheer hard work,” he said.
Jwaneng mayor, Mr Obed Monkge also reiterated that it was vital to reward employees who performed well so as to ensure that they kept performing productively.
He also advised supervisors to make it a habit to commend their supervisees constantly even in meetings and to create professionalism in their departments where supervisees were motivated to perform.
Jwaneng Town Clerk, Mr Dick Kalantle indicated that the objectives of the awards were to recognize exceptional individuals who supported the objectives of the town council.
“We are of the belief that a happy employee is productive employee. We wanted to promote a sense of belonging and instil a culture of good performance among our employees,” he said. ENDS
