Mmea Health Post maintenance complete

28 Mar 2019

Parliament has learnt that maintenance of Mmea Health Post following the February storm was completed during the first week of March.

Responding to a question in Parliament on Wednesday, Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Biggie Butale stated that the storm left the roofing for the two-roomed structure used for IDCC and pharmacy blown off and rain water dripping into the ceiling, hence leaving some medicine boxes damp.

Mr Butale indicated that the affected structure was maintained during the first week of March while the main health post structure was scoped and was envisaged to be maintained during the third quarter of the 2019/2020 financial year.

He told the House that the ‘ministry gives priority to quality of medicines and commodities’ and the contents of the boxes were intact and safe to be used.

Mr Butale noted that there were six boxes of 100 gloves valued at P245.20 that were spoilt.

Boteti East legislator Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe wanted the minister to give an update on the status of Mmea Health Post including the maintenance plan for the clinic.

In addition, Mr Lelatisitswe asked the minister if he was aware that during rainy days, water drips through the ceiling into the pharmacy or dispensary and the entire clinic.

He also wanted to know how much property got damaged and when the health post would receive full maintenance. Ends
