26 Mar 2019
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Ms Botlogile Tshireletso says out of the 755 primary schools, 699 have computers while 56 schools still have none.
Responding to a question in Parliament from MP for Nkange Mr Edwin Batshu, Ms Tshireletso indicated that 316 primary schools had also received tablets through school connectivity project; adding that other schools had received donations from companies through Adopt-A-School project, monitored by the Ministry of Basic Education.
Ms Tshireletso said she would encourage all local authorities to budget for at least one computer and a printer for daily administration for the financial year 2020/2021; noting that it was the responsibility of her ministry to ensure that primary schools were equipped with computers.
Mr Batshu had asked the minister to state if her ministry would consider, as a matter of urgency, to supply each primary school with one personal computer for every day use. Ends
