First family celebrates with Mpuangs

25 Mar 2019

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi and First Lady Neo Masisi were on March 24 among the many who attended the 57th wedding anniversary of Mr Christopher Mpuang and Ms Keneilwe Mpuang at Athens Gardens.

Having grown up before the family as their neighbour, Dr Masisi said he derived a lot of pleasure from the warmth of their love.

Dr Masisi said the Mpuangs commitment to each other, love for one another and their children has been an encouragement, adding that their consistency in loving each other through the years was an inspiration to him and many others who aspire to get into marriage.

He further commended the Mpuangs for their commitment in the Lord and wished them well, while urging everyone to emulate the elderly couple.

Speaking of her parents’ role in their lives, Dr Kopano Mpuang-Almon said she and her siblings inherited creativity and the love for music from their parents, who also taught them courage and dedication.

A friend, Mr Batho Molema described Mr Mpuang as a hardworking man during his heydays. He said he was a man of diligence and honour and also a disciplinarian. Mr and Mrs Mpuang got married in 1962.

They thanked Mogoditshane Central Seventh Day Adventist Church for organising their anniversary.

Ms Mpuang said the church and family had allowed her to realise her dream of being a real bride, while Mr Mpuang credited the Lord for the years they had stayed together in marriage. ends
