Etsha primary schools receive school uniforms
25 Mar 2019
World Group of Companies has donated school uniforms to Etsha 13, Etsha 7, Etsha 6 and Etsha 1 primary schools, following a request by Ngami MP, Mr Thato Kwerepe.
Each pupil received two pairs of shoes, trousers, dresses, jerses and socks, while some members of the community and teachers were each given a blanket.
Speaking at the event, Mr Kwerepe said he was prompted to make the request by the fact that Ngamiland was prone to natural disasters and most people lived in poverty.
He said the people barely ploughed their fields because of elephants, while they also had nowhere to sell their cattle.
Mr Kwerepe therefore commended the World Group of Companies for having heeded the request, adding that government encouraged the private sector to lend a helping hand in the country’s education.
The uniforms, Mr Kwerepe said, would give all the children dignity.
He further noted that children would start going to school without fail, which would also mean better results.
Chief education officer, Ms Goitsemodimo Elias, also commended the World Group of Companies for the gesture, noting that the uniforms would promote unity among children.
Etsha 7 Primary School Head, Mr Theresome Mmusi said the donation was timely, revealing that the school had committed itself to improving results and had recently formed a performance committee. ENDS
