Department of Forestry and Range Resources has donated 153 packets of sanitary pads worth over P2 000 to Sekhutlane Primary School.
Speaking during the handing over ceremony, principal technical officer, Ms Tsholofelo Jimson said the donation was done in collaboration with the Department of Metrological Services as they were inspired by the Vision 2036 pillar of Human and Social Development.
She advised that the sanitary pads be kept in the school and be administered when the need arises.
‘’They are not always readily available for pupils in remote areas, therefore, this will restore their dignity and confidence,” she said.
Ms Jimson also said the sanitary pads would help maintain health and hygiene as well as to prevent the use of other materials, which could be a health hazard.
When acknowledging the donations, head of the department for learning difficulties at the school, Ms Banyana Mathule said they were grateful for the donation. ENDS
