Moshaga plead for Good Hope senior revival

Executive director of Global Transformation and Networks, Mr Taolo Moshaga, has urged pupils and teachers of Good Hope Senior Secondary School to turn around the tarnished image of the school. 

For a while the school has been associated with below par performance in academics and pupils’ unscrupulous behaviour.

Speaking during a motivational talk on Monday, Mr Moshaga said it was disheartening to learn that pupils were involved in unwanted behaviour such as drugs and alcohol indulgence as well as pregnancy and bullying. 

He emphasised that self-respect and intrinsic motivation were key to success. 

“Respect is a two way process, respect teachers and parents and in return they will respect you, so there shall be conducive learning environment yielding good results,” he said.

He also said pupils should know that teachers were trained professionals to teach and guide them to attain good life. 

Mr Moshaga advised pupils to focus on their studies rather than being associated with bad behaviours. 

“Police yourselves, ignore bad friends, aim higher, unleash the best in you, change for the betterment of yourselves,” he said. 

He added that Botswana was reliant on them to be the future leaders and transformers of the country; hence need to fulfill the desire of the country.

Mr Moshaga said they should be grateful that education was free in Botswana and they should explore that opportunity and also utilise technology to do wonders for themselves and the country. 

Mr Moshaga also emphasised the need for teachers to develop teamwork and have one vision of attaining good results.

He also reiterated that teachers should also demonstrate self respect and maturity upon their colleagues so that they build a spirit of togetherness.

Mr Moshaga further advised teachers to be open to constructive criticism because it build them to grow as professional and draw positives. 

In her welcome remarks, school head Ms Obusitswe Matlhagela said it was vital to come with initiative to address the situation at the school hence need for motivation. 

She said they hoped to draw lessons from the motivation and use them to elevate their efforts of achieving what could be best for the school and the community at large. 

She thanked Mr Moshaga for his commitment to invest his knowledge, by sharing with the needy. Ends
