14 Mar 2019
Ngwaketse Land Board has been challenged to retrospect and align its strategic plan to the national vision.
The land board chairperson, Mr Kruger Balosang, said this at opening of the land board’s retreat in Mahalapye on March 12.
He appealed to the employees to understand mandate of the land authority in order to fully execute its mandate.
He said the soul searching exercise was meant to rejuvenate the energy of the employees for the authority to manage land accordingly.
“Our portfolio responsibility is land management hence our overarching vision of sustainable human settlement for all Batswana. We must from time to time evaluate and monitor our activities aimed at driving our strategic as they must be aimed at addressing the aspirations of the national vision 2036,” he said.
Mr Balosang said through retrospection, the authority would be in a position to take into account emerging situations, new policy directions and realign their plan of action accordingly.
“We must retool our processes towards prosperity for all,” he said, adding that Ngwaketse Land Board had also taken into account the need to align with President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi’s vision.
Among other issues, Mr Balosang said the land authority must remove the red tape which resulted in lengthy process relating to issues of changing land use and utilisation of existing open spaces.
Mr Balosang emphasised that land management was an issue that must be handled with due care as it had the potential of brewing conflicts.
“We are aware all that land management is a very emotive subject, whatever we do must satisfy our customers to mitigate complaints. I, therefore, challenge you, to come up with innovative ways to improve service delivery,” he said.
Ngwaketse Land Board secretary, Mr Godiramang Moepeng, said team work could enable them to achieve objectives.
He castigated some officers who compromised the core mandate of providing the public with quality and timely service. ENDS
