Drainage master plan not yet implemented - Autlwetse
13 Mar 2019
Mahalapye village drainage master plan , which was designed during the 2008/2009 financial year, has not yet been implemented due to budgetary constraints.
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse said the project was not implemented in 2009 due to the economic downturn and was included in the NDP 11, but was not approved due to budgetary constraints.
He said the project would be considered along with other priorities during the mid-term review of NDP 11.
Regarding the storm water drainage system at Mahalapye Bus Rank, Mr Autlwetse said it would be upgraded if funds were approved for the drainage master plan.
Mahalapye West MP, Mr Joseph Molefe had asked if the minister was aware that Mahalapye was prone to flooding.
He also wanted to know when the storm water drainage system would be constructed, and when the storm water drainage at the bus rank would be upgraded. ENDS
