14 Aug 2013
Southern District has been allocated 5 086 slots under Ipelegeng for the 2013/14 financial year, the assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso has told parliament.
She said Kanye South and Kanye North had been allocated 583 and 577 slots respectively.
She also highlighted that Kanye North Constituency overlapped into both Kanye Administrative Authority and Moshupa Sub-district.
Ms Tshireletso said the quota for Kanye Administrtive Authority was not reduced but rather consideration was given to those villages in the Kanye North Constituency with less economic opportunities and hence the distribution of the 65 slots within the Kanye North Constituency.
She highlighted that these villages are Ntlhantlhe 13, Ranaka 13, Lekgolobotlo 15, Kgomokasitwa 14 and Magotlhwane 10.
The assistant minister said the 65 slots taken from Kanye Administrative Authority were from wards within Kanye village which fall under Kanye North constituency.
MP for Kanye South Mr Abram Kesupile had asked the minister to state the number of Ipelegeng slots allocated to the Southern District Council and the number of slots allocated to Kanye South and Kanye North constituencies respectively.
He had also asked the minister to state the reasons for reducing the allocation for the Kanye Administrative Authority by 65 in favour of the Moshupa Sub district. ENDS
