Dikoloti donates copier

12 Mar 2019

Kanye based principal education officer has applauded Dr Edwin Dikoloti for helping government efforts of providing quality education to Batswana.

Mr Goitsemodimo Mmusi delivered the gratitude March 12, when Dr Dikoloti donated a combined photocopier/printer worth P4 000 to Mmathethe Primary School.

Mr Mmusi said the cost of education was high, thus pivotal for the private sector and capable Batswana to come on board and assist however they could.

He shared that Parliament had recently approved P8 billion for his ministry,  but explained that more still had to be done.

“My ministry enjoys seeing young Batswana group themselves into alumni clubs with a view to assisting schools that raised them to become the best they could be in different fields of human endeavour,” he said.

He said helping someone in need was tantamount to loaning God himself, explaining that individuals could also volunteer time and valuable skills to schools.

Mr Mmusi further revealed that government was drilling boreholes in Mmathethe and Good Hope, which would alleviate water shortage concerns in the village.

He was also happy that all schools in the Good Hope Sub-district had been connected to the national power grid,  which he described as a giant step towards quality education.

For his part, Kgosi Daniel Mathiba of Mmathethe challenged learners to aspire to be like Dr Dikoloti, an astute veterinary surgeon who grew up in a village just like them and pledged a cow for anyone who would pass with an A*.

He argued that learners should be socialised into adults who valued hard work knowing it was the only currency that bought wealth and a good life rather than hoping to get something for nothing.

The school head, Ms Mavis Sentle was optimistic that the donation would come in handy for her school as they usually lost valuable time shuttling between Kanye and Good Hope to print test papers.

She said the machine would enable them to prepare remedial materials for slow learner.

When handing the printer to Ms Sentle, Dr Dikoloti said the gesture was an expression of a wish to help the government create an enabling environment for teaching and learning.

He also urged learners to become go-getters instead of waiting to be spoon-fed. He said nothing could stop them from becoming anything they ever wished to be if they worked hard.

Dr Dikoloti promised to come up with a quiz and essay competition for primary and junior schools within Mmathethe/Molapowabojang constituency.

He said the motive was to challenge pupils to compete for prizes and improve their performance in the process. ENDS
