Ngaka attends women session

Minister of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs, Mr Ngaka Ngaka is in the United States of America to attend the 63rd session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW 63) from March 11-14.

The press release from the ministry states that the CSW is the principal global inter-governmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women.

It further says the commission plays an instrumental role in promoting women’s rights, documenting the reality of women’s lives throughout the world and shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women. 

The release states that the session will run under the priority theme: Social protection systems, access to public services and sustainable infrastructure for gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls.

The session will also evaluate progress in the implementation of the agreed conclusions from the 60th session on women’s empowerment and the link to sustainable development. 

The commission will also discuss a focus area on ‘women and girls of African descent.

The minister is accompanied by officials from government ministries, parastatals and the private sector as well as civil society organisations. He is expected back home on March 15. ENDS
