AGs spends millions on services

The Attorney General’s Chambers spent over P11 million on legal and related services for 2017/2018 financial year, Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Shaw Kgathi, has said.
Minister Kgathi said out of the amount, over P9 million was paid to law firms whilst the remaining P1.9 million was spent on related legal services such as damages in civil cases involving government.
Mr Kgathi further explained that “during the current financial year 2018/2019, the Attorney General’s Chamber has to date spent a total of over P15.1 million on legal and related services.”
Out of the amount, Mr Kgathi said over P11.5 million had been paid to law firms whilst the remaining P3.6 million was expended on related legal services.
MP for Jwaneng-Mabutsane, Mr Shawn Ntlhaile had asked the minister to state the total amount spent on legal and related services, and to state the number of law firms and amount spent on each. ENDS
