No plans to relocate Mochudi library

Parliament has been informed that although the Mochudi Public Library is situated in a seemingly noisy and crowded area, the area is strategic as it provides easy access for customers.
Despite the location, Assistant Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele said the library could not be said to be of little benefit to the users, as it was still very popular as evidenced by the monthly patronage of 2 385 visitors.
Mr Makgalemele acknowledged that the Mochudi Public Library building was small and often experienced shortage of sitting space for customers.
He said it was one of the libraries that were earmarked for expansion during National Development Plan 10, but which could not be undertaken due to the economic recession.
“At the moment, there are no plans to relocate the library to another place,” he said.
Mochudi West MP, Mr Gilbert Mangole had asked if the minister was aware that the Mochudi National Library was situated in a noisy and crowded area in a very small building, and as such, having little benefit to its users.
He also wanted the minister to explain when the library would be relocated to a larger and more suitable place. ENDS
