Letlhakane SSS faces water shortage

Letlhakane Senior Secondary School faces shortage of water from time to time due to poor supply from the village, basic education minister, Mr Bagalatia Arone has said.
The minister said it was true that the school went without municipal water supply for days or weeks.
During such shortages, he said the ministry took it upon itself to supply water to the school using bowers if Water Utilities Corporation could not assist.
“My ministry has not abandoned the idea of drilling boreholes in some schools. We have recently drilled boreholes in Good Hope and as resources permit, we shall continue to assist more schools,” he said
Furthermore, Mr Arone pointed out that the ministry would engage the appropriate ministry to address the issue of water in Letlhakane.
Member of Parliament for Boteti East, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had asked the minister to update Parliament on the water status at Letlhakane Senior Secondary School, and further state whether it was acceptable that the school could go for days to weeks without water, and what happened during such situations as the school had boarding facilities and water borne toilets and that pupils needed to be fed.
Mr Lelatisitswe also wanted the minister to state if the ministry had abandoned the idea of drilling boreholes in schools.
He also wanted to know when the problem would be attended, and the cost to government if it was a new problem and why it had taken long to be attended. ENDS
