The Office of the President has dismissed as false and misleading social media reports to the effect that Botswana Police Service commissioner has been suspended.

A statement issued yesterday by Permanent Secretary to the President Mr Carter Morupisi reads;
“The Office of the President wishes to refute allegations that are circulating on the social media platform regarding the suspension of Botswana Police Service commissioner Mr Keabetswe Makgophe.

The information that is being circulated is false and misleading. Members of the public are reminded that as with other senior and executive positions in government, changes of this nature shall be communicated to stakeholders as it has been the norm. To this end, the Government of Botswana wishes to confirm that Mr. Makgophe is still the commissioner of the Botswana Police Service.” Ends
