Funds shortage affect road upgrade

Resources permitting, it would be sensible to upgrade Moshupa-Naledi road to bitumen standards because it offers the shortest route to Jwaneng.

Minister of Transport and Communications, Ms Dorcas Makgato, said this in response to a question from the MP for Moshupa-Manyana, Mr Karabo Gare.

Ms Makgato said due to the limitation of funds, the ministry had been undertaking needed improvements in a step-wise and phased manner.

From August 2016 to August 2017, she said, the road benefitted from some spot improvements but the funds ran out.

“The outstanding aspect of the road is planned to be done during the next financial year 2019/2020,’’ she said.

The Moshupa-Manyana legislator had asked the minister if she would consider constructing the Moshupa-Naledi road. ENDS
