Moshaga motivates PTA

04 Mar 2019

The executive director of Global Transformation and Networks Mr Taolo Moshaga, says he has learnt a lot from people and expects those in power to work hard in showing support and commitment.

Speaking during Lekgwapheng Primary School’s recent PTA motivational talk organised under the theme; Child First: the Difference Through Parental Involvement Towards the Building and Empowerment for the Future in the Learning Process, Mr Moshaga advised on the need for achieving what one sets to attain, adding that challenges should not be a discouragement, but a motivation to try again.

“We look down upon people when we are blessed and reluctant to help others even when we are flourishing,” he said.

Mr Moshaga said people should never be ashamed of their little efforts, but rather use them as a way to unleash their full potential.

“I am shocked that the school opened in 1986, yet it does not have an assembly point and traditional hut” he said.

He also encouraged the PTA to prioritise events that concern the future of the children, citing that people never failed to attend social gatherings such as weddings, but failed to pull the stops to attend PTA meetings.

“We all need to understand the fact that a child belongs to a parent not a teacher, therefore pointing fingers won’t take us anywhere,” he said.

He implored the committees to lobby and find out ways on how they could raise funds for the PTA.

The teachers were encouraged to the spirit of Botho in the children. For her part, PTA chairperson, Ms Mmaphuti Motshweneng said the association aspired to make a difference in the school through partnership with parents.

She briefed the gathering about their intention to construct a traditional hut and erect a shelter in the assembly area to be used during bad weather conditions.

Giving the event’s overview, the school head Ms Aisha Kokoro said Lekgwapheng, with an enrolment of 913 pupils, was challenged by the increasing number of children from under privileged families.

Still at the event, Mr and Mrs Thobega donated uniform to seven pupils they had adopted. ENDS
