JJ hattrick sinks Miscellaneous
03 Mar 2019
In an exciting BTC Premiership encounter played at Molepolole Sports Complex on Friday, Gaborone United demolished Serowe-based Miscellaneous by four goals to nil.
The game itself was balanced, especially in the first half as the team from Serowe wanted to prove a point or two, launching attacks from the wings which however were not useful due to the GU defence.
As the game progressed, it became evident that Miscellaneous had come to the administrative village of Bakwena for tourism purposes, as some were not in the game.
While the midfielders and strikers fought with everything they had, Tse Nala’s defence was on holiday, with Chicco Molefe and the goalkeeper, Basimanebotlhe Moilwa being the main culprits.
Poor communication from the two caused problems for Miscellaneous and it led to a corner which resulted in Jerome ‘JJ’ Ramatlhwakwane opening the score sheet.
The goal was more of a comedy of errors as Miscellaneous failed to clear the ball and it eventually landed on Ramatlhwakwane’s boot and he did not waste the opportunity.
Towards the end of the first half, it became clear to Miscellaneous that they were facing an uphill battle, as the long shots they took out of desperation did not bother Ookeditse Semelamela for they were wide and high.
Gaborone United coach introduced Thatayaone Kgamanyane for the injured Thabang Tlhotsapele in the first half, a move that resulted in technical changes with more men upfront.
The first half ended with GU leading by a solitary goal, and in the second half they emerged more rejuvenated, more energetic and they added speed in their attacks.
Miscellaneous coach Otsile Koolese made an early substitution in the first half, bringing in Botsile Kebaikanye for King Mokgatlhane.
However, GU continued to pile pressure on their opponents, mostly using counter attacks, taking advantage of their speed and clever foot work.
Eventually, this paid dividends after Moilwa had blocked a shot, but Ramatlhwakwane pounced on the rebound to make it 2 nil in favour of Moyagoleele.
Ramatlhwakwane put the game beyond Miscellaneous as he netted his third goal after he received a through ball, beat Moilwa with a dribble and sent Moyagoleele supporters in jubilant mood.
However, it was his last piece of action as he was given a rest in favour of Boipelo Oaitse.
Just when everyone thought the game would end with a three zero scoreline, Patrick Kabamba, who was playing as an attacking midfielder, made the score somehow embarrassing as his thunderous long shot outside the penalty box beat Moilwa who was left sprawled on the ground to extend the lead.
Gaborone United coach Philemon Makhwengwe said he was happy with his charges, saying although he made several changes to his squad the players were able to gel and played according to instructions.
His counterpart, however, was not a happy man, saying his team had never conceded so many goals. He said he did not know what happened to his players as they did not give their best performance.Ends
