26 Feb 2019
Parliament has been informed that the electrification of three kgotla shelters in Mokubilo, Mosu and Mmatshumo will cost government P33 000.
Responding to a question in Parliament, the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said cost to Mmea and Khwee, which are solar powered still needed to be assessed.
During the current and the next financial years, Ms Tshireletso said the ministry had prioritised the maintenance of staff houses and connection of electricity to Tribal Administration facilities in villages that had been recently connected to the national grid. In addition, the minister pointed out that distances from kgotla offices to the shelter are as such; Mosu is 50m, Mmatshumo 70m, Kwee 25m, Mmea 30m and Mokubilo is 50m.
Member of Parliament for Boteti East, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe had wanted to know if it was true that kgotlas shelters in Mosu, mmatshumo, Mmea, Khwee and Mokubilo did not have electricity despite that kgotla offices had electricity.
Mr Lelatisitswe also asked the minister to state the distance between kgotla offices and leobo, and how much it would cost to get the shelters connected. ENDS
