Sky is limit for The toilet man

20 Feb 2019

Business on disposing of human waste requires passion and zeal.

Mr Seolekeng Mojela of Ncojane can attest to this.

The entrepreneur is known around Tsabong as the toilet-man because of his portable toilet and skip hire business.

His is a story of a plumber who went to a poverty eradication pitso as part of a logistics personnel but later discovered ‘gold’.

Mr Mojela managed to get 22 business ideas from the event, but toilet hire business came tops in his list.

Mr Mojela then registered his company: Trusted Orders and  consequently bought VIP toilets and non-flush ones.

He negotiated a franchise of Easy Skip Company through CEDA funding.

“The then Vice President, Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi’s advice during the pitso at Strenzindum to learn and start our own businesses still rings volumes to me, and I am happy that I took it,” he said.

He said after seeking more knowledge on the business, he realised that it was one of the easiest, so he channelled his energies towards it.

“I started with one VIP toilet in 2015 and later added more as the demand increased, especially at weddings, funerals, corporate functions and contractor’s sites. To date I have 16 portable toilets, a trailer and 10 skip bins,” he said.

Although he expected to cash from the last year’s annual Khawa dune challenge, he was disappointed to learn that the tendering was done in Gaborone.

He said he intended to engage with the relevant stakeholders to secure more tenders.

“I have a duty to teach Batswana about portable toilets and skip business and I hope government departments will support me through local empowerment,” he said.

He said Tsabong youth office and council were his main clients. Mr Mojela said he often gave back to the community as he did at the Kokotsha community horse racing event held over the President’s Day holidays by offering non-flush toilets for free.

“The event was an eye opener business wise and I intend to add mobile showers to the business to assist the event participants,” he said.

Mr Mojela emphasized on creativity and passion and hard work and encouraged fellow entrepreneurs to choose what they believed in and be original. Ends
