Kanye Administrative Authority (KAA) has donated 170 packets of sanitary pads to Nthwalang Junior Secondary School in Digawana.

KAA chairman, Mr Tlhomamo Dibeela, said the initiative was born out of love. 

He said they were also motivated by President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi’s call for Batswana to love and find each other.

Mr Dibeela said they raised the funds to buy the gifts through an initiative called Back To School whereby they came to work dressed in school uniform. 

Furthermore, he said they bought 170 packages each containing 10 sachets of pads which translated to 1 700 pads.

He explained that they picked the school because they realised that it admitted learners from different social backgrounds.

He encouraged pupils to take their studies seriously as a way of appreciation to government for the opportunity to create a good future for themselves.

Mr Dibeela  also commended the school management for coming up with an initiative aimed at improving performance. 

He noted that the school had bought a bicycle to be won by the best performer.

School head, Ms Omphile Seiphetlho, said the donation would come in handy particularly for pupils who had no means to buy sanitary pads.

She, however, said dire shortage of books and water in her school impacted on their intentions. 

Ms Seiphetlho said sometimes this compelled them to give learners minimum work.

Guidance and counselling senior teacher, Ms Lebogang Kgosidiile, said often times she had pressure trying to assist pupils who desperately needed pads.

She said she had 150 needy learners who were also registered with the social and community development office. 

She was optimistic that female pupils would now focus on their studies with confidence.

Kgosi Moatlhodi Kgwagwe of Digawana also commended KAA employees for going out of their way to assist the pupils.

Likewise, he implored the learners to concentrate on their studies and refrain from attitudes that could hold them back

Kgosi Kgwakgwe also advised pupils to have faith in God.  Ends
