Ministry has plans for Kweneng roads
08 Aug 2013
The Ministry of Transport and Communications, has maintenance plans for Mahetlwe-Hatsalatladi road and the Kweneng-Medie- Lentsweletau roads.
Minister for Infrastructure, Science and Technology answered in Parliament on behalf of Minister Nonofo Molefhi that due to lack of equipment it has been difficult to execute the plan.
Mr Johnnie Swartz said the ministry was in the process of procuring 21 graders for the entire country, of which two are to be allocated to the South East Region where the roads in question are located.
He said the non-availability of graders has made it difficult to grade the roads as per plan and that Lentsweletau-Mahetlwe road was graded in June 2013.
He was responding to questions asked by Kweneng East MP, Mr Moeng Pheto who had asked whether there was a maintenance plan for the Mahetlwe-Hatsalatladi road and the Kweneng-Medie-Lentsweletau roads and why no maintenance was undertaken for over a year despite their bad condition. ENDS
