Sua Flamingoes had a field day on Sunday by walloping Francistown based Great North Tigers (GNT) 4-0 during Debswana First Division North league game played at old Francistown stadium.

Flamingoes are among strong contenders for automatic promotion to the BTC Premiership perched at position three with 24 points, while GNT is at position nine with 10 points.

On Sunday, the mouthwatering duel, played at a high tempo did not disappoint as it produced fireworks from the first whistle.

Flamingoes took charge of the game early launching attacks much to the appreciation of their buoyant supporters who rooted for the boys.

The deployment of GNT former forward, Aobakwe Mopaki and lethal goal poacher, Tendai Nyamadzawo deep into the host box said it all; Flamingoes was all out for the kill.

However, Edward Leposo’s charges were not intimidated as they held their own, defending and thwarting off any attempt to secure an early goal by the visitors.

However, Flamingoes fortitude to get an early goal paid dividends on the ninth minute as Nyamadzawo slotted a brilliant header to put the score 1-0 in favour of his side.

Although both sides were on the offensive, the visitors were a better side in terms of precision of their passes and the number of shots on target.

Also, Flamingoes formidable defence easily dealt with few attacks by the home side.

Coach Leposo, who is notorious for early substitution was at it again, as he pulled out Onkgolotse Maridi for Maemo Sekepe, only 18 minutes into the game.

Before halftime went to recess, former Tafic marksman, Mbatshi Machongo tried to pull one for GNT but Flamingoes goalkeeper, Edwin Mokibe proved equal to the task parrying the shot to safety.

The second half was a different ball game altogether as Flamingoes emerged from the dressing room with gun blazing.

They pounced on errors committed by their opponents until they secured their second goal through Mopaki on the 55th minute.

The host beefed up their squad on the 59th minutes by introducing fresh pair of legs in Witness Livingstone for Ogomoditse Bauleni and then pulled out Nyamadzawo for Mompati Sekwa; something that did not help contain fired up Flamingoes, who put the game beyond reach for GNT through Mopaki second goal to ensure a solid 3-0 lead.

Tumelo Kebadilwe, who easily cut through the napping GNT defence including the goal keeper, easily slotted the fourth and last goal of the match to give his side a decisive 4-0 victory in the dying minutes of the game. ENDS
