Maun Terrors prepare for Orange FA Cup

Maun Terrors Football Club, a second division team in the Nhabe region, is ready to battle it out with National First Division side, Calendar Stars in the first leg of the Orange FA cup in Francistown.

Team manager, Kebonyethebe Dikgathatso, said the players were ready to play in the Orange FA Cup as it would accord them an opportunity to prove their mettle.

“Teams from first division will also have an opportunity to battle it out with their counterparts from the elite league and that will be a motivation to our boys as they play in the amateur league where there is no sponsorship,” he added.

Dikgathatso revealed that preparations were going well adding that players were ready both physically and mentally.

He further said they had reinforced the squad with new players from teams in the the elite league and National First Division.

He said they had recruited Onofile Sethiba from Maun Tigers, Kabo Mathare from Sankoyo Bush Bucks, Emmanuel Keeditswe from Brothers of Peace and Leonard Kangundi from Gunners of Khwai.

Dikgathatso said they aim to progress to the next stage of the tournament.

“We are going there as underdogs and we do  not  have pressure as we take the game of this kind as playoffs where it’s do or die,” he added.

Formed in 1966, Terrors does not have much honours but have been a team of reckon in the North West region.

The team has also played in the North First Division between 2008 and 2011 before they were relegated to lower division.

Dikgathatso said the team was relegated because of financial constrains adding that their intention was to bounce back and become the champions of the second division league as that would accord them an opportunity to participate in the playoffs and  secure a space in the first division league.
