Contractor repairing street lights at Tsholofelo
07 Feb 2019
Parliament has been informed that a contractor is currently resuscitating malfunctioning street lights at Tsholofelo Extension.
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse said to date 604 LED light fittings had been installed, 393 in Tsholofelo East and 211 in Tsholofelo West.
“It is planned that 80 per cent illumination will be achieved by March 31, 2019,” he said. He also explained that Gaborone City Council had not planned for the installation of lights in open spaces at Tsholofelo Extension during the 2018/2019 financial year nor the coming 2019/2020 financial year.
However, Mr Autlwetse said funds permitting, it would be considered alongside other priorities.
Gaborone North MP, Mr Haskins Nkaigwa had wanted to know when the street lights at Tsholofelo Extension would be maintained to illuminate and help combat crime in the area as well as progress made regarding lights promised for open spaces in the area. END
