06 Feb 2019

The chairperson of Lekgwapheng Village Development Committee (VDC) in Molepolole, Mr Edwin Motlhabane, says his committee has come up with ideas that could help job seekers.

Speaking in a kgotla meeting on Friday, Mr Motlhabane said they had collaborated with government and non-governmental organizations to help jobs seekers acquire skills that could boost their chances of employment.

He said such skills included firefighting and first aid treatment.

Mr Motlhabane said the youth in his ward were lucky to have organisations to equip them with such skills.

Mr Motlhabane said his committee and other stakeholders had organised a 10-day workshop for 100 people aged 40 years and bellow.

For her part, the vice chairperson of The Good Samaritan, Ms Phondi Morwaeng, applauded Lekgwapheng VDC for its initiative.

She said with the qualifications the trainees will possess, they would have an upper hand on other job seekers.

On other issues, Ms Morwaeng said her organisation would help in training members of the VDC with computer skills in order to run an internet café they were planning to open in that ward soon, and pleaded with them to have a database for people they wanted trained. ENDS
