05 Feb 2019

Residents of Moshupa have pleaded with their Member of Parliament (MP) to deal with challenges bedeviling their area.

Speaking during a kgotla meeting addressed by Member of Parliament for Moshupa/Manyana, Mr Karabo Gare, the residents implored the legislature to come up with solutions to the problems such as severe water shortage and constant power cuts.

In his response, Mr Gare said the Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) would keep on supplying the village with bowsers, whilst working on the problem.

He promised to follow up the issues.

On constant power outages, Mr Gare promised to contact the relevant officials.

The MP further informed the residents that construction of Moshupa hospital, clinic, and mini stadium was underway.

“We are hoping that construction of some of these projects will start soon, as some have been allocated the budget, while some are at planning stage,” he said.

“We need to continually engage companies to sub-contract competent local companies so that our youth can also benefit,” he said. He noted that President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi was keen on creating employment, especially for the youth, adding that, the village leadership should also find opportunities for their youth as a way of mitigating unemployment.

The MP also commended primary school teachers in the area for improved Primary School Leaving Examinations.

Mr Gare called on elders to parent all the children in the village, not only their biological ones to fight the moral decay in the village.

For his part, Kgosi Thusonyane Motshukana reaffirmed that the main challenges affecting his people were water shortage and constant power outages, adding that the power cuts damaged electric appliances.

Kgosi Motshukana lamented that parents did not discipline their children. Ends
