With proper funding and full implementation of SPEDU incentive package that had been approved by Cabinet to attract investment to the region, a lot could be achieved in future and the much needed jobs created.

Assistant Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Mr Moiseraele Goya said this when answering a question from Kgosi Galeakanye Modise of Tswapong region at the 13th  meeting of Ntlo Ya Dikgosi.

Mr Goya said SPEDU had facilitated 51 companies to establish various projects in the region, which are at different stages of setting up.

About 22 of the 51 are at advanced stages of implementation and 15 of these are citizen owned companies in Information Technology, Manufacturing, Agriculture and Construction, he said.

“Three are government projects for infrastructure development and agriculture while four are foreign owned companies in agriculture and manufacturing,” he said.

The 51 companies are expected to invest approximately P2 293 billion, while investment stands at P354 million and 1 271 jobs were created since inception, he said.

The assistant minister also indicated that SPEDU had 31 members of staff, from director level to junior staff.

He further explained that SPEDU had, since its inception, allocated more than P113 million starting 2015/16 financial year to 2018/19. Ends
