Government extends ploughing season

Government has extended the ploughing period in the southern part of the country from February 1st to February 7.
A news release from the Ministry of Agriculture Development and Food Security states that farmers who use technologies such as row planting and harrowing will continue to benefit according to Integrated Support Programme for Arable Agriculture Development (ISPAAD) guidelines.
Meanwhile farmers are encouraged to plough and plant only when there is adequate moisture which can sustain crops for at least two weeks before the next rain. Ends
