Geingob visits SADC
31 Jan 2019
Southern African Development Community (SADC) chairperson and Namibian president, Dr Hage Geingob, arrived in Gaborone January 31 for an official visit to the regional bloc’s secretariat.
A news release from SADC states that it is standard practice for the organisation’s chairperson to visit the secretariat headquarters during his or her tenure.
The key objective of the visit is to enable the chairperson to appreciate the work done by the secretariat in facilitating the SADC regional agenda, to provide guidance on the implementation of programmes, including the theme during the chairperson’s term of office.
During the visit, the chairperson will address the secretariat staff, inform himself about the organisation’s operations and review the implementation of the decisions of the 38th summit that was held in Windhoek, Namibia last year.
