31 Jan 2019

Western Furniture & Appliances Molepolole branch shop recently donated five Lenovo tablets worth over P7 000 to Bakwena National Primary School.

Speaking during grand opening of Molepolole branch, Western Furnitures deputy general manager, Mr Kedumetse Pule, said they donated to the school as part of their commitment to give back to the community that had supported their business growth from a single store in Mogoditshane to the current seven branches across the country.

He said due to the era of technological advance, many people now prefered electronic-learning, therefore it was vital to donate information technology gadgets that would help pupils in that regard.

Mr Pule said they were also giving away various prizes such as fridges, beds and televisions at all their seven branches to  customers who took part in a raffle competition of October last year.

When appreciating the donation, Bakwena National Primary school head, Ms Mpho Madilanyane commended Western Furnitures for its noble gesture saying the tablets would be of interest to learners.

Ms Madilanyane said with the use of information technology gadgets, learners’ knowledge would be enhanced, adding that with the connection of internet at their school learners would be able to download revision materials.

She said they would award three tablets to best performing pupils in the 2019 Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) and said that her school had been average in the PSLE results, attaining 72 per cent in 2017 and dropping in 2018 to 62 per cent.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, Kgosi Lawrence Mhaladi appreciated Western Furnitures for opening a branch in Molepolole and employing residents.

Kgosi Mhaladi also thanked the shop for giving back to the community, adding that it showed their commitment towards uplifting residents. ENDs
