31 Jan 2019
The Zebras have been pitted against Seychelles during a Nations Championship qualification (CHAN) draw on January 30.
The games will be played home and away and the Zebras will host Seychelles in the first leg on a date and time to be announced.
The Zebras coach, David Bright welcomed the draw, saying the team would qualify for the finals to be played in Ethiopia next year.
This time around, he said he was confident that the team would leave an indelible mark in the competition given that the players were active in their respective teams.
Bright said Seychelles had good individual players, who could cause havoc; hence they would have to start preparations early.
He said he would also use their encounter against Angola in March as part of their preparations adding that he would field more domestic players during the game.
He said most of the players were well conditioned adding that Seychelles should expect a fierce battle from the Zebras.
Meanwhile, according to CAF website, 47 teams will battle it out for the 15 places at the CHAN finals.
The teams will join Ethopia, which will host the sixth edition of the tournament designed exclusively for footballers playing in their domestic leagues.
The draw was the highlight of the meeting of the 25-member committee, which saw the tournament format and procedures approved.
The format of the competition remains unchanged and will be played on a zonal basis to determine the finalists. ENDS
