Councillors reject constituency community project report

30 Jan 2019

Boteti councillors have rejected a community constituency report on the grounds that Tsienyane East was not covered on the projects.

Tsienyane East ward councillor, Mr Solomon Cornelius countered the report during the special sub-district session held in Letlhakane on January 28 .

He was supported by Kedia/Mokoboxane’s Councillor Orapeleng Dikgang who said that the majority of the proposed projects for 2019/2020 were Tsienyane West only.

Cllr Cornelius argued that Tsienyane East Ward Village Development Committee was not consulted, saying projects presented were for Tsienyane West ward. He pleaded for a kgotla shelter for Tsienyane East and a reception class as per the request from the community.

Mr Cornelius also requested for a status update on pavement of the gravel road from Rakops Land Board to Nicodemus Primary School.

He suggested that the reception class proposed for Etsile Primary School at Tsienyane West should be transferred to Tsienyane East.

Specially elected Councillor, Baobonye Loeto said it was clear that all the projects were for Tsienyane West, and Tsienyane East was not catered for. Councillor Loeto contended that Tsienyane East VDC was not functional and therefore could not be drawn into the presented report, suggesting that Rakops projects be sent back for review by members of the community.

The council chairperson, Mr Molemi Galeragwe ruled that Rakops report be sent back for further consultation with the community and VDCs from both wards.

The economic planner, Mr Motlalepula Ramadi had initially stated that 2019//2020 community constituency projects for Rakops included construction of a reception classroom and maintenance of toilets at Etsile school as well as construction of LA2 houses at Toromoja through Ipelegeng. ENDS
