30 Jan 2019

Ntlo ya Dikgosi chairman, Kgosi Puso Gaborone, says 2019 is a crucial year for the country because both Parliament and Ntlo ya Dikgosi will be dissolved to pave way for national elections.

When welcoming members at the start of the 13th meeting of the third Ntlo ya Dikgosi in Gaborone on Monday, Kgosi Puso said it was incumbent upon all members to rally their communities to register for elections in order to cast votes for a government of their choice.

He said people should use this democratic right to vote, thereby ensuring peace, tranquility and order.

He also expressed delight over the support they received from the political leadership, noting that during their last retreat in December, the President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi paid them a visit to outline his road map.

Kgosi Puso said dikgosi were apolitical, so they should support government of the day.

In addition, he said they should support and implement government policies.

The nation, he said, should strive to uphold the principles of Botho and tolerance.

Kgosi Puso, also Batlokwa kgosikgolo, called on the nation to keep on praying for rain so that both the lives of people and animals could be sustained.

He further called on dikgosi to shun incidents of Gender Based Violence (GBV), which of late have engulfed the nation, an indication that the nation might be losing moral values.

He urged parents to teach children to respect each other starting from the family, a move which that could help them grow up knowing that human beings should be respected regardless of their gender.ENDS
