Principal dietician at Sekgoma Memorial Hospital in Serowe, Ms Mosweu Lungisani, says a road to healthy lifestyle entails exercise, healthy eating and screening for ailments.

She was speaking during the Ministry of Employment, Labour Productivity and Skills Development’s health and wellness day in Serowe recently.

Ms Lungisani said it was important to raise awareness about health and wellness, including diet related conditions when addressing healthy lifestyle.

The principal dietician urged participants to develop the habit of eating healthy by having a well-balanced meal three times a day.

She said a well-balanced diet provided the right nutrients to keep the body strong and healthy and it could also aid in the prevention of a variety of diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, stroke, depression and certain types of cancer.

Fitness instructor, Mr Bakang Gasekgale, encouraged participants to engage in physical activities such as walking, running and aerobics since they had proven to have health benefits such as weight loss, increased energy levels and help with relaxation amongst a plethora of benefits.

He urged participants to change their lifestyles after receiving health information and advice.

Sekgoma Memorial Hospital afforded participants an opportunity to test and screen for various diseases. ENDs
