BDF donates to Makobo primary

Botswana Defence Force (BDF) intake 74 of 2019 has donated school uniform and graduation gowns to pre-school class as well as a photocopying machine worth P52 000 to Makobo Primary School in Shashe West constituency.
Speaking at the donation handover on January 25, military college course coordinator, Major Ishmael Thipe said trainees were not only taught the mandate of the military but other human responsibilities as well.
He said they had a social responsibility role, which included human and social development.
Major Thipe said with every annual intake, trainees would be made aware of such responsibilities and voluntarily made a choice of what they wanted to do for the benefit of society.He said this year’s group choose to support education hence the decision to support Makobo Primary School.
Major Thipe said the uniforms cost over P16 000, photocopier P16 900 and 60 graduation gowns worth P15 000.
The college’s acting commandant, Colonel Keebine Kgakge, said the initiative was aimed at supporting one of the Vision 2036 pillars of human and social development.
Colonel Kgakge said setting a solid foundation for pupils from a young age guaranteed a bright future.
He said they had set themselves goals to support government in developing human capital adding that in that way, the nation was assured of an educated nation, able to compete globally.
He implored the school to care for the donation in particular the graduation gowns which would remain the property of the school and benefit future learners.
In appreciation, the school head, Ms Franscioner Masole said they were fortunate to have been chosen by the BDF.
She said they would use the donation well so that it last longer. Ends
