24 Jan 2019

Five Batswana teachers from the Ministry of Basic Education (MoBE) have been recruited to work at Maputo International School in Mozambique.

Responding to a questionnaire from BOPA, the ministry’s chief public relations officer, Ms Lebogang Nyadza, said the five female teachers are; Mary Hendricks, Mpho Mxekwa, Sethunya Malaakgosi, Julia Khutsafalo and Oteng Molapisi.

Of the five teachers, Ms Nyadza said two would teach at secondary school level, offering Environmental Science and English Literature, while the other three would teach at primary school level.

Explaining the criteria used to select the five teachers, she said an advertisement was published on October 15, 2018 through the MoBE and Botswana government’s facebook pages.

“The applications were then sent to Maputo International School for shortlisting and potential candidates were interviewed by Maputo International School management team in Botswana on December 11 and 12, 2018,” she added.

To make up for those who declined the job offer, Ms Nyadza said the last interview was conducted on January 8, 2019.

The teachers, she said, had been employed on a two-year contract, renewable depending on performance for a subsequent two term and 12 months for the final term. ENDS
