Mr Batsile Ngande (39) of Maun is testimony that passion and zeal can draw one to great success.
Mr Ngande, a self-taught welder operating from his home in Maun, has proved that welding and fabrication had potential to be profitable.
Mr Ngande, who started his business in 2007, stated that before starting his business, he worked as a labourer for Mr Mothusi Saritio, who also operated a welding and fabrication business.
Consequently, he acquired experience for a period of five years until he perfected his craft.
“I commend Mr Saritio for contributing to the sort of entrepreneur I am today. Through his assistance and encouragement, I was able to break into the market,” Mr Ngande said.
Despite not attaining any formal training, the entrepreneur has mastered his trade and most of his clients were satisfied with his service.
He also believed that talent and commitment contributed to the success of his business.
The father of one explained that he started small by doing simple things such as designing cattle branding irons and door frames, but the demand from his customers forced him to do other things such as donkey carts.
He explained that he designed donkey carts because there was a high demand, adding that at times he got handpicked and booked by clients to weld borehole engines at their farms.
Some of his works included trailers, door frames, window frames, gates and cattle brands among others things.
Mr Ngande said he was able to make ends meet and support his family through the business. ENDS
