23 Jan 2019
The maintenance of the seven-kilometre road project between Maunatlala and Seolwane has commenced.
The P9.8 million project, which entails resurfacing and installation of curb stones, was awarded to House Owner Estate Agent Property Valuers and will be carried out under a subcontract by Lithium Holdings based in Palapye.
The subcontractor Mr Gaborone Gaborone said in an interview that the project would engage 20 labourers; 10 from Maunatlala while the other 10 would be from Seolwane with a 30 per cent being females while 70 per cent of the workers would be males.
He said that the six-month project included the maintenance of the inner Maunatlala tarred road starting from Tsela-e-butswe turn off to the main kgotla while in Seolwane the project would start from Seolwane access road to the main kgotla.
Councillor for Maunatlala Ms Salome Lesole welcomed the development, appreciating that it would create employment for the residents of Maunatlala, giving them a sense of pride for being part of the developments made in their village.
She said that the current state of the road was bad, adding that several accidents occurred due to the condition of the road.
She noted that for years now the road had been the talk of the village and a nightmare to motorists as it had potholes and was narrow, hence the urgent need to have it maintained and resurfaced.
Ms Lesole urged the residents to be optimistic and give the contractors time to carry out their project accordingly without interference. ENDS
