Orapa United struggles past Sankoyo Bush Bucks

22 Jan 2019

Sankoyo Bush Bucks youthful head coach, Tiiso Gadimang has expressed disappointment about his boys poor performance during their encounter with Orapa United at Maun Sports Complex on January 18.

He expressed his displeasure in an interview after the game, saying his boys lost the plot from the beginning, and that they did not come to the party hence giving their opponents too much respect and room during the entire game.

Orapa United beat Sankoyo Bush Bucks 1-0 in a dull encounter that did not even impress both teams’ supporters.

Gadimang said from the onset the boys looked a bit relaxed and struggled to attack their rivals, adding that they could have done much better and shared the points if his team was in the game.

He noted that they struggled in the midfield department. “We need to stabilise our midfield and we are hopeful that we will find a central defender soon if funds permit,” he said.

Gadimang is optimistic that the signing of two new players from South Africa will bring a difference to his squad.

Currently, Sankoyo is in position 15 with 12 points and there is uncertainty amongst supporters on whether the only Maun-based team will survive.

But Gadimang said it was still too early to tell, adding that there was still room for improvement provided they beefed up the squad with quality players.

On the other hand, Orapa’s assistant coach, Zachariah Muzadzi was also not impressed with his boys performance, saying they could have done much better and scored more goals.

He attributed their sluggish performance to the heat in Maun, saying it was unbearable and that next time the relevant authorities should consider playing at night.

He said his boys managed to contain their opponents as they approached the game and deserved  the maximum three points.

The game started at a snails pace as both teams did not play up to expectation from the beginning as they appeared to be laid back.

Although Orapa enjoyed more ball possession in the first half, they struggled to score until after the break.

After recess, both teams increased their tempo, but their efforts were in vain.

Orapa United made several substitutions and introduced Tendai Nyumasi who increased the tempo of the game

Kabelo Kebaikanye gave his team the lead in the 83rd minute after catching the Ngurungu defence napping, and that was the only goal of the game. ENDS
