Khama donates to day care centre

20 Jan 2019

Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development Mr Tshekedi Khama has donated gifts to disadvantaged children at Marulamantsi Day Care Centre in Serowe recently.

Handing over the gifts, Mr Khama, who is also the MP for Serowe West, said he could have donated the presents on Christmas Eve, but due to work constraints, he failed to do so.

He said his desire was to create a conducive environment for the children.

Mr Khama, who was accompanied by his daughter Ms Naledi, expressed his heartfelt love to the parents who came to the occasion to witness the handover.

He appealed to parents to look after their children so that they become responsible citizens.

Receiving the donations, the day care coordinator Ms Mavis Mosenki appreciated the donations, saying even though good Samaritans often assist them with food for the children, they were having challenges of paying monthly salaries for the three teachers, thereby requesting the MP to assist.

She said the centre was started by the Roman Catholic Church in Serowe in recent years to assist disadvantaged children to attend pre-school in the area.

Giving a vote of thanks, councillor for Serokolwane ward, where the school is situated, Mr Setlalekgosi Molefi thanked the Serowe West legislator for being compassionate and caring. ENDS
