Acting President Mr Slumber Tsogwane on January 12 visited the Shoro family of Ncojane to comfort them following the death early this month of Kebaabetswe Ellen Shoro who was buried on January 6.
Mr Tsogwane who is also Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) chairperson, said it was fitting to visit the grieving family, particularly since the fallen mother of three and a husband had made a significant contribution to the party especially the women’s wing.
“We all owe death a life’ and the fate of people’s lives lies in the power of God who is the creator of all and who even created death,” he said.
He said though it was not easy to come to terms with death, they should accept that her demise was God’s plan and will.
Mr Tsogwane shared with them that it had been difficult for him to come to terms with his wife’s death in 2008.
He however said it was encouraging to see the family being strong saying it showed that the Ncojane community and friends commiserated with them.
The acting president encouraged the family to seek strength, comfort and have faith in God.
Ghanzi South MP Christian De-Graaf said Ms Shoro’s passing brought sorrow to his own family as they had been lifelong friends.
De-Graaf told the family that as Christians they should know that God would always come to take the most beautiful flower in their garden as He knew what was best for them.
“If we were to ask Ellen whether she wanted to come back she would say no. She would say I am happy because I am in a better world. But were going to miss her.
He said ‘Ellen’ selflessly served BDP and was a loving person.
Kgosi Segonkgo Masuga of Ncojane said the deceased worked hard for her political home and requested to reward her posthumously.
The acting president also visited Ncojane’s Marakanelo Secondary School, where he greeted students and toured the school facilities. ENDS
