Tafic humble Sua Flamingoes

The Debswana First Division North league resumed over the weekend with Tafic continuing a chase for top flight league qualification by humbling Sua Flamingoes 2-0 in Sowa Town on January 12.
The game which pitted two of the top three teams at top of the league’s log standings had been on the league’s highly anticipated matches by supporters.
Sowa Town Stadium was packed to the rafters and hundreds of fans were in attendance, some having driven from neighbouring towns and villages such as Francistown to watch the hotly contested match.
The game, which was played under soaring heat temperatures, did not deter both teams from launching early attacks to secure early goal.
That early goal came through Tafic’s revered goal-poacher, Mbatshi Elias on the second minute of the game when he found the back of the net to make the scoreline 1-0 in their favour.
Two minutes later, Kemoreng Batisani extended his team’s lead to give his side a 2-0 lead.
Sua Flamingoes fans were not impressed and made it known to the coach.
They had hoped that their team will revenge the 2016/17 campaign defeat to Tafic.
That day, April 22, 2017, Matjimenyenga Boys, as Tafic is affectionately known hammered them 2-1 during a top flight qualification league in the same pitch.
The goals in 2017 were scored by Elias and Batisani, who also registered their names on the scoring sheet for their team on Saturday.
Despite the shocking early goals, Flamingoes did not resort to being spectators as they mounted attacks but were just not in luck.
They created many goal scoring opportunities but often time their attempts at goals were either wide or high and went over the cross-bar.
Additionally, to that, the Francistown-based side had a formidable defence to thwart all Flamingoes’ efforts.
Their heavily built defenders in Gobonyeone ‘Shoes’ Selefa and Buyani Kgomotso ensured the back of the team was water-tight for even slight penetration.
Equally, their goalkeeper, Abednico Morapedi was on fine form on the day ensuring numerous brilliant saves.
With goals not forthcoming, the first half ended 2-0 in favour of Tafic.
The second half saw the hosts making full substitutions early-on in an effort to save what was turning out to be an embarrassing day bringing in Mompati Sekwa, Patrick Lenyeletse and Thabiso Bante for Joseph Nkgoeng, Ngwako Ramokgathadi and Thato Ganetsang,.
Tafic also brought in Samuel Phiri, Boitshoko Zikhale and Michael Murirwa for Buyani Kgomotso, Rebaone Modisaotsile and Rockie Nkwe.
Despite flurry of attacks in the second half, Flamingoes failed dismally to hit the back of the net despite trying relentlessly for it.
The game ended 2-0 in favour of Tafic.
Matjimenyenga still lead the league with 28 points with a whopping eight points and four points from two competitors being Sua Flamingoes and Morupule Wanderers respectively. ENDS
