Shashe West Member of Parliament preaches teamwork

Member of Parliament for Shashe West, Mr Fidelis Molao has urged heads of departments (HOD’s) in Tutume Sub-district to spearhead government programmes and policies.
Addressing HOD’s in Tutume recently, Mr Molao, also Assistant Minister of Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, said as public officers they must work together and support each other in pursuit of stakeholder’s satisfaction.
He emphasised the importance of taking services to people. Instead of always delegating their juniors, Mr Molao advised HODs to take the bull by its horns and assist customers meticulously.
He advised HODs to close loopholes and work as a team to deliver services to the public on time.
He advised public servants to up their game as 2019 was the year of elections. He said more was expected from them as government employees to provide Batswana with services.
He further urged HODs to avail themselves for kgotla meetings, stressing that they were more familiar with issues and better placed to answer burning issues raised by residents.
He also urged HOD’s to give feedback to their clients for better working relationships.
Briefing the MP on progress of projects and programmes implemented within Shashe West constituency, an official of Tutume Sub-district, Ms Itumeleng Peter said 209 poverty eradication beneficiaries had been funded while 92 were waiting funding.
She further said 37 projects were funded through women economic empowerment programme of which 34 were operational while two were non-operational due to some constraints.
She said group dynamics and funds embezzlement were some challenges leading to failure of projects.
Ms Peter said other beneficiaries decried lack of market as detrimental to the success of their businesses.
She said to address the challenges, beneficiaries were invited to forums such as women’s exposition, district market days where they networked with others and got exposure to new markets.
Tutume Sub-district deputy district commissioner, Ms Utlwanang Kerakang lambasted HOD’s for failing to submit their department’s progress reports, saying that it hindered development. ENDS
