Good Hope sewage reticulation project at design stage

13 Jan 2019

The estimated P4 million Goodhope sewage reticulation project is at design stage.

Southern District Council chairman, Mr Alec Seametso, said in a kgotla meeting in Good Hope recently.

He said the project would mark a new standard in the sanitation infrastructure development of the village.

Mr Seametso said the project would also include construction of internal tarred roads in Pitsane, thus creating employment for residents.

He noted that the plant would benefit the residents since there would be a corresponding wastewater treatment that ensured best quality for specified use such as watering the fields and for building.

He noted that the project would also reduce the risk of disease related to poor sanitation and environmental pollution.

He said the Department of Environmental Health would visit to access the location and make recommendations.

Further, Mr Seametso advised residents to stop throwing sanitary pads and nappies at the landfills since they contaminated overflowing waste water and contribute to bad odor in the atmosphere.

For their part, residents welcomed the developments and indicated that the sewage was urgently needed because the current and existing sewage pipes had leakages and affected their health and livestock. ENDS
