Business ventures fruitful - Kwerepe
11 Jan 2019
Ngami Member of Parliament, Mr Thato Kwerepe, has advised Etsha 13 youth to form syndicates and pursue business ventures that will empower them.
He told a kgotla meeting in Etsha 13 on Wednesday that the youth needed to think out of the box and be innovative.
He said Etsha residents had first-hand experience in what a co-operative was all about citing Etsha Co-operatives as their successful brainchild.
Briefing them on what was deliberated during the last sitting of Parliament, he said, it was proposed that the stock theft charge should be moved from 12 years to 15 years imprisonment looking at the gravity of the offence.
Mr Kwerepe, also Assistant Minister of Basic Education, explained that although Water Utilities Corporation (WUC) was doing all it could to minimise issues in relation to water shortage in the region.
However, its efforts were reversed by some residents who damaged water pipes.
Nonetheless, Mr Kwerepe gave a word of encouragement saying a public servant had to leave a mark and work an extra mile to gratify clientele.
Moreover, the principal programmes officer in the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development (MYSEC) in Gumare, Mr Alfred Ditsile, said the Okavango Sub-district was one of the prime regions rich with talent in arts and culture.
However, he said, it was disheartening that there was a small percentage of youth in Etsha 13 who registered for the annual presidential competitions.
He advised the youth that talent was a ticket out of poverty and they should use it to their own advantage. Ends
