Zimbabweans welcome new scheme
06 Jan 2019
Zimbabweans residing in Maun have been urged to take advantage of the newly introduced initiative dubbed Moonlight and Babereki Funeral and Repatriation Scheme.
The scheme offers a product to Zimbabweans for repatriation to their home country upon death.
It came as a result of a strategic partnership between Moonlight Funeral Insurance and Services from Zimbabwe and Babereki Insurance Brokers, which is a business wing for Botswana Public Employees Union (BOPEU).
Zimbabweans were encouraged by officials from both Moonlight and Babereki during the product launch in Maun to fully utilise the scheme.
They were informed that the product was unique and most who attended the launch welcomed the product.
One of the speakers, Mr Oteng Otukile, who is the chairman of Babereki Insurance Brokers said the union found it fit to search for a credible partner in Zimbabwe to provide a good product for the benefit of the Zimbabweans in Botswana.
He urged the Zimbabweans to utilise the product saying it would give them a peace of mind especially when they experienced financial difficulties since they would be laid to rest without hassle to their different destinations next to their relatives and loved ones.
“We have packaged something exciting and we believe your dreams of having a dignified burial will be granted through this product which is tailor made for all of you in Botswana,” he said.
Mr Oteng appreciated the Zimbabweans’ contribution and participation towards development of Botswana hence founding it fit to introduce a product that would benefit them.
He also noted that they would continue to exploit how they could expand the scheme to other countries.
Moonlight director, Mr Tichanzwana Masunda, urged his fellow countrymen to feel free and interact with Babereki officials to fully understand the product.
BOPEU secretary general, Mr Topius Marenga revealed that they were looking at the partnership with enthusiasm and believed it would take them to greater heights.
He hoped that the concerned parties would not disappoint each other but rather work together to achieve better reward going forward.
Meanwhile, it was reported that currently the repatriation benefit is restricted to Zimbabwe and South Africa. Ends
