03 Jan 2019
3G Ministries Church, Kopong branch, has donated food hampers to victims of a thunderstorm that recently swept through some areas of Francistown leaving a trail of destruction.
The food hampers, which included meal mealie, cooking oil, rice, sugar, soup, sauces and washing powder were donated to 44 residents of Francistown East who were hit by a thunderstorm which tore through Satellite, Donga and China Town.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Francistown deputy mayor, Mr Godisang Radisigo said it was Batswana’s culture to assist in times of need.
He said the donation should be a challenge to other organisations and appealed to the business community in Francistown to revive the spirit of neigbourliness, saying good leadership must be exemplary in times of need.
Mr Radisigo called on Batswana to continue praying for rain despite the challenges that it brought.
Speaking at the same event, Donga Customary Court president, Kgosi Tshegofatso Setumo thanked 3G Ministries for having responded quickly to assist the victims of the thunderstorm.
She also appealed to other organisations and the Francistown business community to donate food hampers to augment what 3G Ministries donated.
For his part, a representative of 3G Ministries, Apostol Tshepo Senuku said the church saw it fit to give a helping hand because disaster could hit at any time.
He explained that the donation was from the church leader, Prophet Cedric Kobedi as part of the church’s corporate social responsibility.
Apostol Senuku further thanked God that no life was lost during the disaster, saying property could be replaced but not life. ENDS
