Churches pray for better 2019

03 Jan 2019

Different churches recently gathered at Monarch Customary Court in Francistown to pray for a peaceful 2019.

When opening the event, Francistown West MP, Mr Ignatius Moswaane, said prayers were critical in making 2019 a better  and prosperous year.

He said government appreciated the role of the church and understood that it played a major role in helping people to live positive lives.

It also helped to maintain peace in the country.

Mr Moswaane called on the church to pray against the ills besieging the country, which he said could hinder peace and freedom.

He urged parents to raise their children in the church to reduce crime.

He said churches could also help the youths to avoid indulging in alcohol, drug abuse and crime.

The MP said men who abused women and children needed prayers too since men should protect their families and lead by example.

Mr Moswaane said churches should also pray for a reduction in road accidents, which claimed many lives, especially during festive holidays.

He thanked churches for attending the prayer activity and urged them to also pray for rain.

Pastor Nnang Siako from Barongwa Apostol Church in Zion thanked the MP for inviting churches to pray for a better 2019.

He said,  “we are living in the last days where only God’s intervention can help”.

Pastor Siako said it was critical for parents to teach their children good morals, adding that not showing children their wrongs could destroy their future.

He blamed not living under God’s law for the many divorces, urging married couples to invite God into their marriages to help them to respect and be loyal to each other.

He urged churches to visit homes, work places and even bars where a lot of people gather, to preach the word of God as not everyone can visit a church.

Pastor Siako also said if people could stop doing bad things and turn to God, he will forgive them and heal their land as the Bible says.

The churches that attended the prayer session donated P560 and food hampers for two less privileged Monarch residents. Ends
